Dialect Classes - British RP

British RP (Received Pronunciation) or Standard British, is the accent that most commonly comes to mind when we think of British accents in the U.S. The accent is often referred to as, BBC English, or Oxford English, as it is often the accent of the trained theatre and screen actors, BBC reporters and journalists, middle to upper class, and the educated. It is typically the accent that is required when a breakdown or audition notice comes across with "British Accent." Having this accent in your toolbox is invaluable in so many ways, 1) it is the most common foreign accent for actors 2) learning this accent helps you better understand heightened language and applying it to your acting.

Dialect Coaching - One-on-One

Are based on the skill level of the actor and prior dialect experience. An assessment will be made, and you will receive a dialect packet (materials), an orientation (60 minutes), and a group of mini coaching session will be scheduled with Amy. The mini-sessions are 20-minutes in length. During the mini-session, Amy will listen to your material in your dialect, work with you on the areas you're struggling with, and exercises/homework will be assigned based on that coaching to help you improve. The goal is to help you along through the development of your accent, not one session and done, nor record your lines in a dialect for you. The goal is to empower you with knowledge of how to do a dialect so that you can apply it to your next role or script.

Dialect Coaching Rates:

  • New Dialect: Packet of Materials (60 minute orientation) & (3) three mini-coaching (20 minutes) | *$120

  • Additional Mini-Sessions | $20 for 20 minutes, and billed a $1 per minute we go over.

  • Coaching can be done via video.

*This will vary depending on a students ability to pick up an accent. If you've never done an accent before, it may (most likely) take more than (3) three coaching sessions.

"I had never done any kind of dialect work in my acting, and was super nervous and intimidated about learning a British accent, but Amy heard my concerns and fears, addressed each one, and then we got down to work. Not only did I get a kick-ass British dialect, I learned so much about my voice, and my vocal placement, which made me feel more empowered as an actor." ~Emily S, Los Angeles, CA

"I can't thank Amy enough for tutoring my entire cast in a Southern dialect for our production of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". What impressed me most is how she could drill down on each individual actor as to where they were struggling, either with a sound or vocal placement, and patiently work with them to get it correct.. She was a true joy to work with."  ~Bill Huffman Tucson, AZ
